About the Opportunity

As we continue growing, Lucara Diamond Corp. has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller to join our team in our Vancouver, BC head office on a full-time basis. 

The Assistant Controller will assist the CFO and the Director of Finance in the preparation and review of financial reports, general ledger reconciliation and journal entries, and payroll duties. You will help ensure accounting policies are followed company-wide, and support the management team in all finance-related matters. You will also provide administrative support to the executive team.

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in finance and accounting duties for multiple entities within the corporation
  • Working with other departments to create and maintain strong financial controls and processes 
  • Managing intercompany accounts across multiple entities
  • Managing budget to actual reporting
  • Participating in identifying and supporting process improvement projects
  • Responding to inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests 
  • Helping coordinate all external audits, so they are managed and completed in a timely fashion 
  • Participating in the completion of corporate and indirect tax filings
  • Responding to auditor inquiries, coordination of responses and delivery of information to external audits.
  • Organizing and preparing for meetings, including gathering documents and attending to logistics
  • Assisting CFO/Finance team with the preparation of regular internal and external reporting
  • Drafting, reviewing and distributing communications on behalf of the CFO/Finance team
  • Preparing notices and agendas, and compiling and distributing comprehensive board packages
  • Taking meeting minutes, and preparing consent resolutions, regulatory filings, forms, documentations, and correspondence
  • Creating an annual calendar of board and committee meetings and other key dates and maintaining a schedule of attendance
  • Creating and maintaining a schedule of external contracts and agreements, and monitoring renewal dates
  • Participating in special projects and other duties, as required

To qualify for the Assistant Controller role, you will need an accounting designation (CPA, CMA, and/or CGA) along with 4+ years of relevant accounting or finance work experience. Previous experience working in accounting/finance in the mining or natural resource industries would be an asset, but is not required.
